Our serial memory development kits give embedded designers all the tools they need to easily integrate Datakey Electronics' portable memory products into their designs. All serial memory kits include the following items:
The software CD is where nearly all of the enhancements to the development kit have been made. Here's a brief overview:
Improved Sample Application
Among the number of improvements to the sample application, one of the most useful was an initial screen to set the configuration for the reader. Our reader/writers are "universal" in that they can talk to all of our portable memory products, even though they have different serial interfaces, memory technologies, memory capacities, etc. Because of this you must first configure the reader; that is, tell it what type of memory device it will be communicating with. Now, each time you launch the sample application, you are reminded to first configure your reader.
Additional Programming Languages
Our sample application serves two main purposes. First, it provides an easy way to read/write known-good data from/to a memory device using a PC-handy when troubleshooting your embedded device. Secondly, because we provide the source code, programmers can see how each of the functions included in our DLL are used. In the past, our development kit primarily focused on C++. Our new development kit provides sample applications with the associated project files for the following:
Drivers for Windows Vista and Windows 7
Our development kit now includes both 32-bit and 64-bit drivers for Windows Vista and Windows 7. We still support Windows XP as well. All of the sample applications mentioned above are 32-bit applications, but can run on 64-bit computers.
